This is a children’s singing game, but a very rare one. Even the exhaustive studies of children’s games by the Opies fails to mention it.  Bob and Jacqueline Patten collected a version in Devon in 2001, with a description of a skipping game, and there is reference to an Australian version. And apart from our Gloucestershire version, that is that.
