Alternative title: Wassail Song

Performer: Brazil, Danny
Place Collected: Elmstone Hardwicke
Date collected: 1995 (13 Apr)
Collector: Davies, Gwilym
Roud Number: 209

One of a number of short wassail songs found up and down England. The tune bears resemblance to “God Rest ye Merry Gentleman”. Danny sang the song with a repeated last line, whereas his sister Lementina did not. It is unlikely that the family ever went wassailing but it could well have been used by them as a door-to-door carol.
