Schofield, Robert Kenworthy
Back to collectorsSchofield, Robert Kenworthy (1901-1960) studied at Cambridge and joined the Travelling Morrice. He then worked as a soil scientist at Rothamstead Agricultural Research Station, and joined the St. Albans Morris Men. Later he became a Reader in Soil Science at Oxford. He played the pipe and tabor.
His manuscripts are in two notebooks at VWML:
KWS 2/5 Bledington contains tunes written in pencil. Some of them, Young Collins, Princess Royal and Shepherd’s Hey, are marked “George Hathaway, Aug 7 or 14 1937”.
KWS 2/4 contains musical notation cut out from elsewhere and pasted into the book. An index is included, which may refer to pages in an original book. Text is written on the paper of the notebook. The contents appear to be derived from four visits to the Bledington. and Longborough area:
