Idbury hill was one of several tunes used for the Bledington sidestep dance. The first 4 bars of the B music (second half of the tune) is taken up with a long sidestep, followed by a half hey [half figure of 8]. William Hathaway, previously at Lower Swell, and Henry Taylor, at Longborough played similar tunes with the name “London Pride”. At Longborough it was also used for a sidestep dance. John Mason called his version Old Heddon of Forlay. It is related to the Ulster Protestant song, The Boyne Water.
