About

The “Single Gloucester” project, which paved the way for the Glostrad site, was born out of a wish to make the traditional songs and music collected in the county more accessible and in a form which could easily be used by, for example, schools, choirs, the folk scene, researchers and so on.  It is a Heritage Lottery Funded project which ran until the end of November 2016 and is now being maintained by a group of trustees

The aim is to have the collection used, and to this end, users are welcome to print out the abc and pdf files for private and community use.   All we ask is that the Single Gloucester project and the provenance of the material be acknowledged in any use.  Every effort has been made to ensure that we have not infringed copyright of sources, collectors, folklorists and composers.  If anyone has any queries on this issue, they can contact the project using our Contact Page.

Our pilot website gloschristmas.com is still available with information about local carols and wassails.  It includes a selection of the seasonal songs that you can find also here on this site.

In addition to this website resource, the project has created an archive collection which includes unedited recordings of singers and musicians. Project partner Gloucestershire Archives continues to preserve this collection and make it accessible now and in the future (GA collection reference D13660)
