Performer: Dawes, Eli
Place Collected: Southrop
Date collected: Between 1913 and 1916
Collector: Williams, Alfred
Roud Number: 1300

This is an example of song with a very limited geographical spread.  All the collected versions, of which there are few, are concentrated in Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire.  Although it sounds like the sort of thing to have appeared on old broadsides, no trace of the song can be found before Alfred Williams noted it.

For a Gloucestershire tune to this song, see here.
