GlosTrad Folk Radio Podcast No.3 – The Fiddle Players
Our guest in this edition is Paul Burgess. He tells us the story of how Cecil Sharp came to collect Gloucestershire cotswold morris tunes from the fiddle players like John Mason and William Hathaway. We also look at the playing of Forest of Dean musician Stephen Baldwin. We hear field recordings and Paul himself playing some of the lesser known tunes.
The Bristol Ceilidh Quartet provide a setting of some Hathaway tunes, and Martin Vogwell plays his guitar arrangement of the Gloucestershire Hornpipe.
