Wortley, Russell
Back to collectorsRussell was chiefly known as a collector of dances and his work on the Morris dances of the Forest of Dean is particularly impressive. In his search for dances, he often came upon songs and tunes and made extensive recordings of the Emily Bishop and her sister Beatrice Hill in Bromsberrow Heath. He also made valuable recordings of Stephen Baldin, the fiddler from Newent. A full biography of Russell can be found here.
