This lengthy song was published as a broadside in Scotland as “The Spiritual Railway”. Curiously, it was printed on a memorial stone in Ely Cathedral in 1845, which may be the first reference. The fact that Emily Bishop was singing the song over a century later is remarkable, as hers is the only collected version.
