Alternative title: (The Pub with no Beer - Parody)

Performer: Hartland, Ray
Place Collected: Eldersfield
Date collected: 1978
Collector: Davies, Gwilym

The original Pub with no Beer song was apparently composed during WWII by one Dan Sheanan but has been reworked many times.  The 1960s recording by David Gordon Kirkpatrick aka Slim Dusty made the song popular throughout England and further parodies have arisen.  Mr Hartland’s version brings in the names of local characters and even has a reference to elver fishing, one prevalent along the banks of the River Severn.
